Mint Finance holds full membership of the MIAA (Mortgage Industry Association of Australia). As a full member, we must abide by the strict guidelines and code of practice at all times, which fosters ethical conduct and encourages ‘fair dealings' and ‘best practice'. Members of the MIAA are recognized for their experience, expertise and industry knowledge. You can rest assured that at all times we are acting in an ethical and professional manner.

We are backed by full membership of PLAN Australia , (Professional Lenders Association Network Australia ). This provides us with Legal, Information Technology, Training & Accreditation, & Industry compliance Departments at our disposal.  We are also members of the Credit Ombudsman Services Limited (COSL), which is the government department watchdog of the mortgage industry, meaning even more peace of mind for you.



- Mortgage Industry Association of Australia

The Mortgage Industry Association of Australia (MIAA)  is the peak body providing service and representation to over 10,000 mortgage brokers, mortgage managers, mortgage lenders (bank and non bank), and originators, to assist them to develop, foster and promote the mortgage industry in Australia.

The MIAA is dedicated to promoting and maintaining high standards of professionalism and ethical behaviour, and to providing a united voice for the industry when required. MIAA strongly emphasises the responsibility of members to act in the best interests of consumers. All MIAA members must belong to an ASIC approved independent dispute resolution scheme such as the Credit Ombudsman Services Limited (COSL).

The MIAA has an accreditation program for Mortgage Brokers which is recognised nationally. In order for a broker to become an Accredited Mortgage Consultant (AMC), they must be working for a Full Member Company of the MIAA and fulfill stringent selection criteria, which are based on expertise, education and ethics.

Consumers who use an AMC to help them obtain a loan can be rest assured the person has the industry knowledge and expertise to help them find the loan most suited to their needs and circumstances.

The MIAA AMC criteria are as follows:

-Expertise, Experience and Industry Knowledge
-Commitment to ongoing professional development
-Commitment to the Client
-Adherence to the Industry code of Practice
-Be a member of a Dispute Resolution Service


- The Professional Lenders Association Network (PLAN) Australia

CODE OF ETHICS:
We the Members of the Professional Lenders Association Network of Australia Pty Ltd ('PLAN Australia ') set out this Code of Ethics outlining the minimum ethical standards to be maintained. By adhering to the Code of Ethics we believe that we will:

-Safeguard the reputation and standing of PLAN Australia and its Members;
-Provide consumers with a high level of confidence and trust in the mortgage broking industry, and thereby;
-Raise the profile and business of all Australian mortgage brokers.

TO ACT WITH HONESTY AND INTEGRITY AT ALL TIMES.
This will extend to representations made in advertising, commissions received, all communications, advice provided and customer applications. This will ensure that the best interests of both the customer and financial institution are always upheld.

TO COMPLY WITH ALL LAWS AND REGULATIONS RELATING TO THE MORTGAGE INDUSTRY

To maintain a current understanding and adherence to all laws and regulations as they pertain to the finance Industry.

CONFLICTS OF INTEREST
In each professional assignment undertaken, a member  must both be and seen to be free from any interest which is incompatible with the best interests of the customer. This will extend to both product advice and commissions received.  Substantiation of any recommendation will be freely provided to the customer.

TO MAINTAIN CONFIDENTIALITY IN ALL DEALINGS

Through adherence to the above, professional conduct will be maintained at all times.



- COSL - Credit Ombudsman Service Limited

The Credit Ombudsman Service is a free and independent External Dispute Resolution scheme. It provides consumers with an alternative to legal proceedings for resolving disputes with COSL Members operating in the Credit marketplace.

In general, you can make a complaint to the Credit Ombudsman Service if you believe that the Member you have dealt with has:

-Breached relevant laws
-Breached the MIAA Code of Practice or other recognized
-Codes of Practice
-Not met standards of good practice in the Credit Industry
-Acted unfairly towards you
